DIY Cloud lamp

This easy do-it-yourself will show you how to make your own cloud lamp. Fluffy, white and bright.

When I think of clouds, I think of fluffiness and when I think of fluffy, I think of Agnes from Despicable Me. “IT’S SO FLUFFY!!!”  Who doesn’t want something fluffy in their home? With a minimum of effort and material, you can make an atmospheric lamp, resembling a cloud. It’s super easy to make and the result will definitely brighten up your day!

What you’ll need:

– chicken wire
– a sheet of chalk paper (size depending how big you want your lamp to be)
– 2 packs of white filling
– a can of spray glue
– Christmas lightning
– nails
– hammer

Let’s get started:

Step 1: draw a cloud

There are different ways to draw clouds. If you’re like me – not a real drawing talent – this is a good (and easy) technique. I just put multiple circles together.  Add a piece of chord to your pencil to draw prefect round circles. Just place the chord where you want the center of the circle to be. The distance between where you hold down the chord and the pencil is the diameter of your circle.  Hold down the chord and start drawing a circle.

Step 2: apply the chicken wire

Cut out your cloud and glue the chicken wire on the paper using a light duck tape. Cut off the excess wire. I recommend wearing protection gloves when working with the chicken wire, because it’s pretty sharp.

Step 3: add Christmas lamps

Place the lamps on the wire and use tape to keep them in place. Christmas lights are perfect for the job.

Turn the cloud and use spray glue to apply the filling. Spread the filling evenly over the entire surface.

Step 5: finishing touch

Turn on the light to check for ‚bold’ spots that could use some more filling. Make sure the lights are evenly spread in the entire cloud.

Et voilà! You have your very own one-of-a-kind lightning cloud. All that’s left is to hang it on your wall!
